We are posting Ted Williams writing on: Compassionate Conservation Is Neither because this important message needs to be read and heard. 25 years ago when I was CEO of National Fish and Wildlife Foundation we had a major grant program for eradicating invasive species. We supported Island Conservation highlighted by Ted which removes rats and other rodents from critical bird nesting islands worldwide. The plant species Ted mentions Tamarisk in the Southwest and Brazilian pepper in southern Florida are seriously degrading native habitats. Here we are in 2025 and migratory bird populations are declining by 43% for whole suites of species. While at NFWF I secured the Congressional funding for Palmyra Atoll, a fabulous south Pacific sanctuary that has come to life after being de ratted. In the last decade my Foundation worked with Wilderness Safaris to remove rodents in the Seychelles to restore the Seychelles white-eye. As Ted writes there is neither
