Abby interned as a Timber Technician at Harrison-Crawford State forest in the summer of 2008. In 2010, she worked as an intermittent employee in districts 2 and 12 and also worked on Continuous Forest Inventory plots on private forestland. She graduated with a degree in forestry from Purdue in 2009. Her interests include hiking, backpacking, camping, and bird watching.
