The Director of the Planning Commission is the Administrator of the Bedford County Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Program. This program was created by the Bedford County Agricultural Land Preservation Board in 1995, in accordance with Pennsylvania’s Agricultural Area Security Law. Perpetual agricultural conservation easements are purchased from property owners through a competitive, ranked application process. Easements may also be established via a $1 bargain sale purchase without a competitive ranking. The program is primarily funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Applications are not currently being accepted, pending the transfer of some program duties to the Bedford County Conservation District.
