Owners Andrew Sanborn and Wesley Hewey worked at a local fabrication shop for several years working on tanks and equipment for local breweries. With this experience and the love of beer, they decided to create their own system and brew their own beer. They renovated a section of, third owner, Stacy Strattard’s barn and built a home brewing facility. Over the past few years, they continued to experiment and fine tune recipes. Their passion for brewing craft beer led them to the next level to establish Birchwood Brewing in 2017, and in February of 2019 they opened their taproom in the Gray, Maine.
Birchwood Brewing specializes in classic American Ales and Lagers with emphasis on flavor and clarity, brewed in equipment built 100% by the owners. Birchwood will have rotating taps that will include three flagship beers: brown, wheat and IPA.
We hope that you will think of Birchwood Brewing as your second home where you can unwind after a long day and enjoy a cold beer with your family and friends!
