Burnet County was created in 1852 from parts of Bell, Williamson and Travis Counties and named after David G. Burnet, provisional president of the Republic of Texas. Its county seat is Burnet, which is located in the center of the county, with Marble Falls to the South, Bertram to the East. Burnet is named as “The Bluebonnet Capital of Texas”!

Burnet County lies proudly in the Texas Hill Country. It is bordered by the Highland Lakes, which is a chain of lakes on the Colorado River which create a unique beauty that attracts a strong tourist industry. Many of the residents of the county choose to live in the beautiful Hill Country surroundings and to work in Austin, the large metropolitan city to the East.
