The mission of Chatham Soil and Water Conservation District is to ensure the wise use of our natural resources, soil, water, air. plants and animals by providing technical and educational services to land users.
Major programs and services:
- Provides technical assistance on water quality issues related to soil conditions and animal waste;
- Offers cost-share assistance to the farming community, when funds are available and when the farmers meet conservation and other eligibility criteria;
- Promotes “Best Management Practices” to enhance and protect water quality; and
- Offers educational programs on soil and water conservation to the schools and the community.
