The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy is a private 501(c)3 land-trust organization dedicated to preserving the lands that are crucial to protecting the health of Chautauqua County’s watersheds and its waters. Founded in 1990, CWC has conserved more than 1,000 acres of land, including 2 miles of Chautauqua Lake shoreline and the Chautauqua Lake outlet. The land conserved includes 30 preserves that are open to the public for hiking, bird watching, skiing, snowshoeing, hunting and other forms of recreation.
