The Coastal Plains Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a legal subdivision of the Texas State government. A certification of organization was granted on September 13, 1943. The District is self-governed by five elected landowners of Fort Bend County who make up the Board of Directors. This board directs the activities of the district, coordinates the conservation efforts of various local, state and federal agencies and other organizations, and has the authority to enter into working agreements with these governmental agencies and private concerns to carry out its purpose.
One such working agreement is with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to provide technical assistance in planning, application and maintenance of conservation practices and programs. The NRCS field office is located in Rosenberg, Texas.
