For more than 50 years the Codington Conservation District has been working with individuals and communities to promote wise use of natural resources.
Codington Conservation District works with a variety of cooperators, ranging from farmers and ranchers to urban residents and is actively involved in many ongoing conservation programs such as tree planting and cultivation, grass seeding projects, water quality protection projects, educational projects and assistance in developing and enforcing erosion and sediment control standards.
The conservation district is managed by a board of five elected supervisors. This board consists of three rural landowners or occupiers, one urban resident and one tax payer of real property, representing various segments of the county. These five board members serve a four-year term. Any number of advisers can also be appointed to the district board. A district advisor would be ready to step into a vacancy should one occur during one of the four year terms.
