The ARCO Western Energy Habitat Conservation Plan (AWEHCP) addresses impacts of oil and gas operations on listed and candidate species in a large portion of western Kern County, CA. THe AWEHCP may ultimately impact up to 330 acres of habitat for listed species. This habitat loss will be compensated by designation of habitat on Coles Levee Exosystem Preserve. A total of up to 1,000 acres may be designated on Coles Levee Ecosystem Preserve for ARCO Western Energy projects described in the AWEHCP
