Dr. Daryl is originally from Houston, TX. He studied Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2001. He was accepted to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program at Texas A&M University and graduated in 2005. He also attended the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University where he received a Master of Business Administration in 2006. Prior to opening Country Creek Animal Hospital, Dr. Daryl worked in many different clinic settings. After Vet. school he first went to work as an Equine-Exclusive Veterinarian at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital in Navasota, TX. There he worked on horses from all around the state and beyond. He also had the opportunity to perform and assist with many specialized procedures like arthroscopy, colic surgery, upper airway assessment and surgery, prenatal care of pregnant mares, and neonatal care of newborn foals. After marrying Dr. Lollie, the Mensik Family moved to North Texas and Dr. Daryl joined the team at Sachse Veterinary Hospital as a Mixed Animal Veterinarian. Dr. Daryl then went on to join teams of veterinarians at North Colony Animal Clinic (NCAC) and Allen Veterinary Centre (AVC).
