Dothan Area Botanical Gardens was established in 1996 and offers 50 acres of trees, shrubs, and flowers, navigated by ' mile of paved walking paths. The park is well designed and well maintained, and features a series of habitats, including open pine woods, mixed hardwood forest, a rose garden, a meditation garden, multiple small ponds, and a small boardwalk and observation platform overlooking an overgrown wetland. Sight lines here are restricted.
This park is one of the best sites in the immediate area of Dothan to spot spring and fall migrants, and it should only improve as the park grows in and naturalizes to a greater degree. Likewise, the use of native plants in the park and the food stocks they provide for wildlife should attract a good wintering bird population. The botanical gardens is an excellent partner site to Landmark Park, located just one turn away on US 431.
