NORTH ALABAMA LAND AGENT: Great Southern Land. 2000 – present. Work with private and commercial landowners in regards to land services, primarily identifying and selling timberlands. Projects include small tracts up to multiple tracts packaged together totaling 10,000 acres.

TIMBER BUYER: Kimberly-Clark (formerly Scott Paper), March 1992 - June 1999. Initially hired as a Timber Estimator and subsequently promoted to Timber Buyer Three. Primary responsibility was to insure the supply of timber to a chipmill within the given cost parameters.

• Negotiated timber purchases with private landowners
• Accurately determined the value of standing timber
• Negotiated with and hired logging contractors
• Negotiated timber purchases with timber brokers
• Dealt with the general public that does not like to see trees cut
• Negotiated accesses to land-locked tracts of timber
• Supervised logging contractors to insure:

• Timber was merchandised properly
• Maximum revenue was generated from timber deeds
• Harvesting was completed and complied with stipulations in timber deed
• Logging practices complied with environment laws and constraints

• Negotiated and prepared timber deeds, easements, and other contracts
• Checked accounting to insure logging contractors received the correct payment and the proper volumes were credited to the appropriate tract
• Planned and supervised logging road construction
• Watched market fluctuations in timber prices to prevent timber deed losses
• Generated profit from timber deeds on the sale of the products that were not delivered to KC's chipmill
• Calculated logging rates based on distance from mills, terrain, quality of timber, etc.
• Completed New Horizons training in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Provided instruction, training and guidance to new Timber Buyers

PROCUREMENT FORESTER: Georgia-Pacific, 1989 - March 1992. Initially hired as a Land Management Forester, promoted in July 1991 to Procurement Forester. Responsible for supply of raw materials for a grade hardwood sawmill and pine plywood mill.

• Negotiated timber purchases
• Supervised logging contractors and road crews
• Supervised labor crews in site preparation, prescribed burning, and tree planting

Mapped and appraised company lands ASSISTANT FOREST INVENTORY SUPERVISOR: Gilman Paper Company, 1988 - 1989. Assisted in coordinating information regarding 250,000 acres of company forestlands.

• Accurately compiled and produced comprehensive volume reports and maps
• Updated existing maps
• Cruised timber and measured research plots
• Programmed the Hewlett-Packard computer

EDUCATION

MASTER OF FORESTRY: Forest Business, Mississippi State University, May 1988 (GPA 3.77). Emphasized the use of various techniques such as financial analysis, regression, and linear programming to solve Forest Management Problems.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE: Forestry with a minor in Business Administration, Mississippi State University, May 1986 (GPA 3.45).
