Evan has been with the Division of Forestry since 2016, serving as resource specialist/assistant property manager at Ferdinand and Pike state forests until assuming his current role as district forester in 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in forestry from the State University of New York, college of environmental science and forestry. At Clarion, he assisted in forming a student chapter of the Wildlife Society, serving as its first president, and he was involved in research on old growth forest areas throughout Pennsylvania. During graduate school, he assisted with research on using shrub willow plantations for biomass in developing bioenergy markets in upstate New York. His interests include hiking and zoo trips with his wife and children as well as reading about forest research.
