Dr. Collins is a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a graduate of Woodlawn High School. She graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and worked as a Research Associate in the Diabetes and Obesity Lab at Pennington Biomedical Research Center before entering the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated in 2005. Dr. Collins completed a rotating internship in 2006 at Louisiana Veterinary Referral Center (currently known as MedVet) in Mandeville, LA. Upon completion of her internship Dr. Collins practiced at Banfield, the Pet Hospital in Metairie, LA for 3 yrs before transitioning to a self-employed Relief Veterinarian. As a Relief Vet, Dr. Collins worked at numerous hospitals and emergency clinics throughout SW and SE Louisiana. Such as , Madisonville Animal Hospital, Lafayette Animal Emergency Clinic, Sherwood South Animal Emergency and Critical Care Center, Bocage Animal Hospital and Lake Area Animal Hospital. Dr. Collins’ areas of medical interest are wound care and she is currently expanding to orthopedics. Dr. Collins lives in Central with her daughter Camryn. She also has 3 geriatric pets at home, 2 dogs Jordan Reloaded and Nicko and 1 sassy cat named Sadie Cookie. She also has our clinic cat, George Bailey II. Dr. Collins acquired Galvez Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Barbara Luikart in June of 2017.
