The Fairbanks Soil & Water Conservation District serves over 375 cooperators (private land owners) and the general public in an area that covers over 5.4 million acres.
The mission of the FSWCD is to serve its cooperators, private landowners and all citizens of the district by promoting wise development and conservation of natural resources.
The FSWCD offers technical, educational and financial resources and works with a variety of partners to meet their goals. FSWCD’s critical natural resource areas include:
- A viable agricultural community
- Conservation of soil resources
- Maintenance of water quality
- Management of forest habitats and wood product sustainability on private lands
- Prevention and eradication of noxious and invasive species
- Affordable Energy / Energy Conservation
- Relevant education and information for all clientele
