Gunnison Gardens is a diversified farm growing plants, vegetables, and cold-hardy fruits in Gunnison, Colorado using all-natural farming methods that conserve and enhance our soil.
Our 4-acre farm is located in west Gunnison, on the valley floor, about 1,800 feet east of the Gunnison River. The soils are mapped by the NRCS as Fola cobbly sandy loam and include predominantly clay loam and silt loam in the cultivated beds. Prior to 2014, this “bottom land” was open meadow and cow pasture. Brought into cultivation in 2014 with a diversified mix of row crops, raised beds, and perennial fruits and vegetables, the land is classified as “Farmland of Statewide Importance”. We continually work to naturally amend and nurture our soils for the best sustainable yields.
