HPP was originally created to help reduce agricultural conflicts caused by deer, elk, moose, and pronghorn; and has since been expanded to assist CPW in meeting big game management objectives, enhance big game migration corridors, and support conservation efforts on private lands. Projects must meet at least one of these objectives, related to the four species listed above, to be considered for funding assistance from HPP. To apply for HPP funding, a completed project application must be submitted by a committee’s meeting agenda deadline. Please note that many local committees require additional documentation such as maps, itemized materials lists or contractor quotes, seed mixes, ‘before’ photos, or other information that may help the committee fully understand project proposals. Additionally, applicants should contact the local CPW District Wildlife Manager, HPP Administrative Assistant, and/or HPP Committee Member early in the planning process. Staff and committee members can assist with project design and other ideas for an effective proposal, as well as provide insight into questions or concerns that the local committee may have. We recommend that applicants attend the meeting to present projects, address any questions that may arise, and discuss requested changes from the committee.
