The Humboldt County Resource Conservation District (HCRCD) was formed to assist private landowners in voluntary planning, design, and installation of soil and water conservation practices in Humboldt County. The district’s primary technical services are provided through a cooperative partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), as well as technical staff specifically hired by the district through grant funds.
The basis of our work is to assist landowners in achieving best management practices and other conservation measures where they request it. Currently, and in the past, the HCRCD has received funding to administer water quality improvement programs that alleviate non point source pollution through best management practices. We also help to connect landowners with funding sources that fit the type of project they would like to implement. Below is a list of past and current projects.
- Education and Outreach
- Erosion Prevention and Sediment Reduction
- Humboldt Agricultural Management and Enhancement Program
- Fish & Game Wildlife Area Agricultural Lease Program
- In-stream Restoration
- Salt River Ecosystem Restoration Project
- Habitat Restoration
