Rutgers Cooperative Research and Extension is part of the Federal Land Grant University system serving as the educational outreach arm of the United States Department of Agriculture. We provide research-based information and programming developed at Cook College/New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, part of Rutgers, the State University. RCE strives to better the lives of the citizens of Hunterdon County through a cooperative agreement between Rutgers, the State University and the Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Agricultural - We assist Hunterdon's farmers in facing the challenge of operating a business in a heavily regulated environment, while enhancing market potential and using integrated management systems that are profitable, environmentally sound, and socially and politically acceptable.
Productive Futures For Youth (4-H) - Provide youth with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to function effectively in the economy of a global society. Youth develop positive attitudes, competencies, and skills that are critical for employment and good citizenship.
Strengthen Families - Provide parents and caregivers with knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to deal with societal trends affecting family and personal stability.
Financial Competence - Help individuals, families, agricultural producers, and small-business owners learn and apply principles of financial management to reduce debt, increase savings, and plan for retirement.
Enhancing Environmental Resources - Help consumers and agriculture and other businesses develop and implement practices that maintain an efficient balance among the environment, human health, and economic benefits.
Improved Food Safety and Nutrition - Assist the public in choosing and utilizing foods based on an understanding of food safety and nutrition.
