The Land and Water Conservation Department (LWCD) is committed to working with private landowners, municipalities, lake groups, local schools, concerned citizens, and local and state resource partners on conservation efforts that preserve and protect soil & water resources in Iron County. The department provides technical assistance, educational programs, and Cost-Share opportunities targeted at controlling soil erosion, improving nutrient management, and preventing non-point source pollution.
The Land Conservation Department has a variety of conservation programs available to minimize erosion, protect water quality, and enhance riparian habitat. Programs implemented through the county include;
- Agriculture,
- AIS Management,
- Cost-Share Program,
- Native Plant Sale,
- Shoreland Protection, and
- Wildlife Damage & Abatement.
Technical assistance and financial assistance may be available to implement eligible conservation practices.
