Don Russell grew up in Springhill, Louisiana and graduated from Springhill High School.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry Business from Louisiana Tech University.

After graduating from Louisiana Tech in 1987, he worked primarily as a consulting forester until June of 2002, when he and J. Diehl started Diehl and Russell Forestry.   He is a member of the Society of American Foresters and the Louisiana Forestry Association.  Don is also a registered forester in the State of Arkansas and an amateur radio operator.
