Ms. Furlong first joined the firm in 1989. In those early years with the firm she was involved in the expansion of Hobart Hall at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ; the Claridge III Townhouse project in Verona, NJ; and the restoration of several monuments and historic fences in Newark, NJ.
Ms. Furlong's professional experience has included working in landscape architecture firms in Boston, MA and the Metropolitan New York area. She was the lead designer for Kerouac Park in Lowell, MA, home of the Jack Kerouac Commemorative. Other projects include Shipyard Park, Charlestown Navy Yard National Historical Park, Boston; Veronica Smith Senior Center in Brookline, MA, and many other public open space projects throughout New England.
Prior to rejoining the firm in 2014 Ms. Furlong was a Senior Landscape Architect at a design firm in Parsippany, NJ. There she was the Project Manager for the downtown streetscape improvements in Livingston NJ. She was also the Project Manager and Lead Designer for The Green House Project at Green Hill Retirement Community, West Orange, NJ; the new Municipal Building in Livingston, NJ; the plaza renovations at The Meadows Office Center, Rutherford, NJ and 350-360 Mount Kemble Corporate Center in Morris Township, NJ; and the courtyard renovation for the Hanover Marriott Hotel in East Hanover, NJ; as well as other commercial, institutional, and residential projects.
Ms. Furlong also maintained a small design studio specializing in landscape design and the documentation of old gardens, including the Van Vleck House and Gardens in Montclair, NJ; the Rock and Native Plant Gardens at the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY; and the works of landscape architect Ethelbert E. Furlong.
Ms. Furlong is currently involved in several major projects including a NYC DPR Community Parks Initiative Project, Bloomingdale Playground in Manhattan, NY.
As Senior Landscape Architect and Project Manager she was engaged in all phases of design including community scoping, concept development, schematic design, and construction documentation. As Project Manager for Luther Gulick Playground in New York City, she prepared Scoping Documents, a Project Management Plan, and the Design Approval Document for NYS DOT approval; and coordinated the preparation of construction documents.
