The Juneau office of the University of Alaska Fairbank's Cooperative Extension Service is the base for many valuable programs which cover the entirety of Southeast Alaska. We strive to actively engage with, identify and meet the needs of our communities. Our agents work in the areas of 4-H Positive Youth Development; Agriculture and Horticulture; and, Health, Home and Family Development. We also have educators and specialists who focus on Nutrition Education and Integrated Pest Management.
True to the original Extension Service philosophy of "helping people help themselves", the agents, educators and staff of the Southeast Alaska District - Juneau Office are constantly working to achieve our mandate of "taking the University to the people."
Coming with a balance of opportunities and challenges, Southeast Alaska demands our attention and requires unique solutions. Southeast Alaska is an environment defined by it's water, it's people and it's resources: lots of rain, majestic fjords, giant waterfalls, thousands of lakes and magnificent glaciers abound as do plentiful fish, minerals, forests, wildlife of all types and thousands of years of a history of adventurous, capable people ready to make a successful living in our bountiful region.
