Kalamazoo Valley Plant Growers Cooperative (KVPG) was formed in 1967 by 18 greenhouse owner-operators. Today KVPG is one of the largest associations of growers marketing bedding plants in the United States. As the number of growers increased, KVPG has concentrated on the production of quality plant material while the Co-op staff has assumed responsibility for marketing, sales, transportation, and accounting. Today, Co-op membership exceeds 50 members. A number of growers/members are rooting stations for some of the finest premium vegetative programs in the country. Growers are selected for these programs based on the ability to produce top quality plant material in the proper greenhouse environment. Although the primary focus is plant sales, the Co-op funds scientific research to improve the production of plant products and operates a horticultural supply division providing growing supplies and equipment to both members and non-members.
