Mission
includes educating residents in Laurens County about the importance of our natural resources and the consequences of ignoring our soil and water resources.

Our education is accomplished in a variety of formats. The funding for the educational programs comes from the generosity of residents becoming Affiliate Members

Laurens Soil and Water Conservation District has become a leader in the state. We are very proud of the work that has been completed and we are very proud of the recognition that Laurens County has received. In the past several years, we have had two commissioners elected to South Carolina Association of Conservation Districts (SCACD) board, two members of the house of representatives nominated and selected as SCACD Legislators of the Year as well as other staff recognitions. Our USDA-NRCS partner has been nominated and selected as State NRCS Employee of the Year. In addition, one of our commissioners was selected as SCACD Legislative Chairman and presented with the President’s Award for his work. It’s nice to know our County’s accomplishments are used as a benchmark.

The Laurens Soil & Water Conservation Districts sponsors a variety of conservation education throughout the year. One goal of the Conservation District is to educate youth and adults about natural resource conservation. Programs include Bulletin Board Contests, Photo Contests, Carolina Coastal Adventure, SC Institute for Natural Resources Conservation, the Envirothon competition, Woodland Clinic, as well as other in-classroom programs.
