The Linn Soil and Water Conservation District has responsibility for the natural resource programs; control and prevention of soil erosion, prevention of flood water and sediment damage, conservation and development of water resources, water quality management and protection (both surface and groundwater) and promotion of health, safety and general welfare of the people of Linn County and the State of Oregon.

 

The Linn Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) encompasses the majority of Linn County, Oregon, and the Coburg area of Lane County. The district lies within the Willamette River basin, which is located in northwestern Oregon.

The district is operated by a board of elected directors who are local landowners and citizens with a commitment to the natural resources of the area. The board members are elected to a four-year term and serve on a volunteer basis.

 

The staff employed by Linn SWCD provides technical assistance to landowners and operators regarding soil and water quality issues on their land. The district has no regulatory nature but is simply a source of advice and consultation for the public. The staff also provides education and outreach on various natural resources issues and topics.

 

The mission of the Linn Soil and Water Conservation District is to promote and facilitate the wise use of all natural resources.
