Our Vision

As a community collaborator, Local Matters is transforming the food system through education and increased access to healthful, affordable and sustainable food, while inspiring individuals to consider the role of food in their lives.

Our Impact
Access Working to ensure that all people have convenient access to healthful, affordable, and sustainably grown food.

Education: Teaching children and adults what healthful food is, where it comes from, how to grow it and how to cook it.

Engagement: Working collaboratively with individuals, communities, and policy makers to develop leadership and build support for a sustainable food system.

We take a comprehensive approach to our work, focusing on three fundamental, strategic areas of transforming a food system:

educating about local foods, nutrition, cooking and growing food;
increasing access to fresh and local foods and connecting individuals and groups to resources;
and engaging with the community in partnerships and collaboration to create sustainable, long-lasting change.
