The LNNRD closely monitors both the quality and quantity of the ground water in our district. We implemented a district wide ground water management area (GWMA) in 1996. These efforts help ensure that there is an abundance of safe drinking water for the future.
We conduct ground water studies and sample the water for contaminates such as nitrates.
The LNNRD works with other agencies to help protect public water supplies. Wellhead protection, rural water systems, and surface water sampling are all examples of NRD partnership projects.
