Comments: This umbrella bank was established to provide compensatory mitigation for unavoidable wetland losses throughout the state except for the 3 coastal counties. It was established in 1990 as a way to provide compensatory mitigation for impacts authorized under Vicksburg General Permit 14 for the construction of roadway embankments and bridge abutments.
The operational bank site is located on the Tallahatchie NWR and entails restoration of bottomland hardwoods..
There are also 4 closed bank sites in this umbrella bank including 2 sites in the Pascagoula River Basin:
State Line Pitcher Plant Bog (103 ac in Greene County), and
Dead Dog Pitcher Plant Bog (205 ac in Greene Co)
and 2 sites in the Mississippi River basin:
Dahomey National Wildlife Refuge Addition (160 ac in Bolivar County) and
Malmaison Wildlife Management Area addition (318 ac in Grenada County).
These mitigation bank sites entailed restoration of wet pine savanna and bottomland hardwood habitats
