Each camp is furnished with a gas refrigerator, gas cookstove and oven, wood heater, gas lights, mattresses and pillows with slip covers, and all the basic cooking and serving dishes and silverware. A canoe, paddles and cushions are provided for your use on the lake at which you are staying. Boat rentals, guided wildflowers and nature tours, and scenic airplane rides are also available to provide the ideal opportunity for a vacation in "remote" Maine; one which we hope you will enjoy and remember.
Here at Macannamac, located in the remote area of the Allagash Lakes Region, we have three types of accommodations to offer. The first is our American Plan Lodge on Haymock Lake, which provides lodging, meals and all the comforts of home. Second, we offer housekeeping cabins equipped with indoor plumbing; hot running water, bathroom and shower. Third, we have basic housekeeping log cabins uniquely located on three northern Maine lakes; Haymock, Spider and Cliff. All are individually located on the lakeshore with its own dock to the lake, providing you with the atmosphere of privacy and solitude.
For the fishermen, our area offers lake, pond, river and stream fishing for cold water species such as lake trout, brook trout, salmon and whitefish. Most interest is in Ice-out surface trolling in May, deep trolling in June & July, and fly-fishing & spincasting the remote trout ponds & rivers through September.
For the hunters, The Allagash Lakes Region continually produces trophy size moose, deer & bear. It is true "big woods" hunting at its best, and offers great opportunities for grouse and for archery and black powder enthusiasts.
Macannamac Camps are open all four seasons, enabling us to provide any outdoor activity you might imagine, such as canoeing, swimming, searching for wildflowers, photography and observing wildlife. Accessibility is by road or plane. The seventy mile drive into " the woods" is a combination of pavement and maintained gravel paper company roads or you may choose to be flown in by one of the many flying services available. Pets are welcomed.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have or for a quotation on a trip you may be planning. We'd like the opportunity to provide you with a vacation of ample relaxation and enjoying nature at its best.
