This area consists of 12,695 acres of diverse bottomland hardwoods, agricultural fields, and cypress/willow sloughs. This area has consistently wintered thousands of waterfowl. Mallards and wood ducks are numerous in the forest. Wigeons, gadwalls, teal, pintails, and shovelers can be spotted at daylight and dusk. Canada geese and snow geese are also locally abundant. Hunters and birders are welcomed to the area as both sanctuaries and hunting areas are managed.
Camping is allowed in designated areas only. A WMA Camping Permit is required for any individual or group (maximum of 6 people) that is camping on this WMA and may be purchased wherever licenses are sold. Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days. Camping equipment may not be left unattended for more than 24 hours. All camping equipment and garbage must be removed before final departure.
