Marin Garden Club (MGC) is dedicated to promoting interest in gardens and gardening; engaging in educational activities related to horticulture and conservation; and encouraging the preservation of the natural beauty of Marin County. We have approximately 70 members who meet monthly September through June.
MGC has a long and remarkable history, dating from its founding in 1931, and its members have been highly respected leaders who have made exceptional contributions to the community. Examples include:
- Providing seed money to assist in the purchase of lands that would later become Samuel P. Taylor State Park, Angel Island State Park, China Camp State Park, and Drakes Bay Beach.
- Saving the property now known as Marin Art and Garden Center (MAGC) from development, and then creating and maintaining its Memory Garden.
- Ensuring that no billboards are allowed in Marin County.
- Sponsoring pampas grass and French broom eradication efforts.
