Comments: Mariner Vernal Pool Conservation Bank (Preserve) is located northwest of the intersection between Nicolaus and North Dowd Roads, approximately seven miles west of the town of Lincoln in Placer County, California (Figure 1). The Preserve was established on November 7, 2006 under a Bank Agreement between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Westervelt Ecological Services, LLC (WES). The 160-acre Preserve is characterized by gently undulating uplands associated with vernal pools and swales (Figure 2). Lands surrounding the Preserve are zoned for agriculture and are currently used for rice production and livestock grazing. In 2006, the property immediately north of the Preserve was purchased by the California Department of Transportation for mitigation of the State Route 65 Bypass.
