Mr. Kitchen has over 6 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and environmental technical writing. He began his environmental career as a GIS Analyst with Adams Environmental, Inc. (AEI) in 2008 and has earned his place as the Senior GIS task leader for several projects including mapping for military bases, which have spanned across the United States. Mr. Kitchen also has developed GIS models for predicting wildlife and plant habitat. He received his GISP in January 2015 and completed his Master of Natural Resources from Oregon State University in March 2015. His degree in Natural Resources is supplemented with an emphasis in GIS, and upon graduation, Mr. Kitchen received a GIScience Certificate.
Although his specialty skills reside in GIS mapping and modeling, Mr. Kitchen also now serves as an Environmental Scientist for AEI. Throughout his years with AEI, Mr. Kitchen has written National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)-related documents and has assisted senior scientists with numerous projects. His expertise has expanded into Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Information Documents (EIDs), and Categorical Exclusions (CEs) over the last few years, and he is the lead writer for many Section 404 Nationwide Permits (NWPs) at this time. He has assisted AEI’s senior scientists with numerous projects while also managing his own.
