Extension’s mission in Menard County is to offer leadership in the areas of Economic Development, Beautification, Water Quality and Conservation, Agriculture Production and Youth Development. Extension will assist with leadership and information in any capacity that Extension has access to.
Menard history is one of the most colorful in the State of Texas. One of the goals is to publicize this history and attract tourists into the county to see for themselves. An economic treasure if managed with expertise, looking toward Extension for leadership.
Fishing, camping, hunting, hiking, nature watching are becoming major sources of revenue, but agriculture continues to be the main income producing entities. Sheep, goats, cattle, pecans, grapes and alfalfa hay are produced in Menard County.
Our community is slowly emerging into the 21st century, with Texas AgriLife Extension Service leading the way.
