I am a veteran and current military spouse. I have helped run and/or established co-op buying groups in 3 different states now. My target demographic is low or one income households, multi-child households, families dealing with chronic issues, food allergies, etc. The Monterey County Organic Co-op's mission is to provide quality goods at an affordable rate that promote overall wellness. Our group purchases are at minimum gmo free if not all organic, free from petrochemicals, gluten free, cow-dairy free, corn free. We host monthly DIY workshops focusing on herbal apothecary and food preparation. We have at least one family-friendly gathering per month. Our 2017 join fee is just $5 and there is an 8% fee on every order.
