The Narraguagus Snowmobile Club, organized in January 1969, is very proud of it’s numerous accomplishments. Club members constructed the clubhouse entirely by volunteer labor in 1979 and 1980. Shrubs were also donated and planted along the front of the clubhouse by a Harrington resident.
The most recent addition is a new grooming sled which was purchased in February of 2003. This purchase was made possible by donations from several business members who provided the cash match for the machine. A grant received from the Maine Snowmobile Association’s Capital Equipment Grant Program also assisted the club with the purchase.
Club members have conducted many fundraising events over the years, including banquets, public breakfasts and suppers, a fishing derby, auctions, and poker runs. The main fundraising project, the COMMUNITY BIRTHDAY CALENDAR, is in its nineteenth season and is the main part of the clubs operating budget. The Narraguagus ATV Club has joined the snowmobile club as a partner in the Community Birthday Calendar project. The club also participates in the 50/50 Raffle that the Maine Snowmobile Association conducts. In 2005 a joint fundraising event will begin—GPS Treasure Hunts. Several businesses will be pick-up and deposit spots for waypoint cards and drawing cards. These hunts may be held year round, depending on the interest received in the event. It will be a fun event that families can participate in.
The volunteers of the Maine Snowmobile Clubs work throughout the year to keep the snowmobile trail system open, marked and groomed for everyone's enjoyment. You can support the MSA and the club in your hometown or sledding area with your annual membership dues. Contact the club directly for membership information.
