George Farmer a South Carolina Registered Forester started Natural Properties Real Estate & Forestry LLC in 1988 and it has been a leading consulting forestry and land sales office since that time. He has been managing timber for over 40 years and has been involved in the management of around a half million acres of timberland in his remarkable forestry career..
He worked over 10 years as a forest technician with International Paper on the North Carolina coast out of New Bern NC in the management of 200,000 acres in the Neuse District working on diverse and difficult natural and geologic terrains such as pine pocosins, Carolina bays , coastal wetlands and swamps. He along with other timberland foresters and forest technicians opened up near impenetrable tracts of land so they could be managed, timber cruised, logged and reforested to Loblolly Pine. He also routinely worked on forest inventory, forest wildfire control, prescribed burning and company timber sales. When most of the International Paper Neuse Timberlands was traded to Weyerhauser in 1984 George was in charge the of the timber cruise field work on hundreds of thousands of acres involved in the land trade.
He then worked as a unit forester on Crescent Resource's Lake Keowee Division for over 4 years in Upstate South Carolina assisting in the management of approximately 200,000 acres located on Lake Jocassee, Lake Keowee, Lake Hartwell, Lake Russell and smaller lakes.
He was involved in the massive timber cruise of the 420,000 acre Bodcaw timberland purchase by International Paper in Louisiana and Texas in 1979. That land and mills were bought by International Paper for 805 million which would be over 2 billion in today's dollars.
Since 1988 George has worked as a consulting forester and land broker on about 100,000 acres primarily on private farms and timberland as well as on corporate timberlands for companies such as Evergreen Timberlands, Crescent Resources, Boise Cascade and Westvaco.
