Nicols Brothers, located in Rumford, Maine has been a family owned and operated business since 1979. Together, brothers Jim and Bill Nicols established the business forty-three years ago.
By 1984, the equipment owned by the logging company grew from one to four cable skidders. In 1986, the company diversified their services to include feller buncher systems and logging trucks. In 1994, the company purchased a processor and forwarder, and increased their number of employees to twenty people.
From 1994 to present, the company has transitioned to a fully mechanized logging company. In 2004 a new office and maintenance facility was aquired and a log yard was established. The company currently employs six people and owns or subcontracts the following logging and trucking equipment:
- cut to length system
- log trucks
- loaders and slashers
- excavators
- bulldozers
- graders and other road building equipment.
Nicols Brothers operates on private and public timberland throughout central and southwestern Maine.
