The North Central Texas Prescribed Burn Association (NCTPBA) was formed in 2008 and is now incorporated.  In December, 2011, we became a member of the Texas Alliance of Prescribed Burn Associations (TAPBA), a state-wide association formed in conjunction with the Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, Texas AgriLife Research, and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.

We advocate prescribed burning as a useful part of rangeland management — a practice that provides advantages not only to property owners, but to local wildlife, livestock, and native habitats.

Resources We Provide

• "Burn schools" where you can learn the science and practice behind prescribed burns
• Calendar coordination so you can see when burns are scheduled
• Equipment inventory to enable members to coordinate support for their prescribed burns
• Membership roster so you can see which of your neighbors are involved in this land management practice
• "Hot links" to other relevant web sites (weather service, etc.)
• Elected official & agency contacts so you know who to contact regarding prescribed burning

The NCTPBA takes pride in our advocacy and promotion of the safe, responsible use of prescribed burns to help maintain and improve rangeland in North Central Texas.
