The Oregon Prescribed Fire Council is dedicated to serving fire practitioners, state and federal agencies, academic institutions, Tribes, and interested individuals by creating a forum for discussion, providing training and assistance, and supporting policy changes that would lead to better fire practices. The Council hopes to enhance the fire adapted natural ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest by expanding the responsible use of fire.
The council first formed in May 2013 under the leadership of Chair Amanda Rau and included representation from OSU, The Nature Conservancy, federal and state land management and regulatory agencies, and tribes. The Council’s goal is to promote and facilitate focused communication and information about prescribed fire and to provide a forum for interested parties to congregate and participate in discussion about prescribed fire.
