Habitat restoration priorities for the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program in New England target trust resource fish and wildlife species, i.e., endangered or threatened species, migratory birds, and migratory fish. Based upon this, we have prioritized restoring the following habitats:
- Upland Habitats - Restoration of grassland, young forest, and shrublands to benefit species such as the New England cottontail, pollinators, and migratory birds;
- Coastal and Freshwater Wetlands Habitats - Emphasis on tidal (primarily salt marsh) and freshwater wetland restoration and adjacent upland habitats through removal of restrictions to tidal flows, removal of freshwater drainage, dam removal, or the installation of fish passage structures;
- River Habitats - Focus on the removal of barriers to upstream and downstream passage for migratory fish, e.g., dam removal, culvert replacement/retrofit, and installation of fish passage structures; and
- Schoolyard Habitat – Development of partnerships in the State of New Hampshire to reconnect students with the outdoors and experience nature.
