Growing up, Peter Frankowski made frequent trips to visit his grandmother, who lived on Mobile Bay. Her hobby was plants, so as a kid I spent a lot of time in her greenhouse, taking cuttings and growing things from seeds, Frankowski said. I practically spent all of my summers there with her.

That exposure to seedlings led to a lifelong horticulture interest for Peter. He graduated from Auburn University with degrees in both horticulture and forestry. From there, he worked for a consulting forester and an international forest company for a while, and a few years later he made the leap to start his own businessa business focused on what he enjoyed most: seedlings.

Since 2001, through his company, Advantage Forestry Container Pines, Frankowski has been all about helping landowners with reforestation by providing containerized longleaf, loblolly and slash pine seedlings. His seedlings are grown at a greenhouse in Tifton, Georgia, and shipped all over the southeast. I enjoy consulting with customers and vendors on what type of trees would work best. It lets me focus in on what I have always enjoyed: trees and the environment.
