St. Albans Cooperative Creamery was formed in 1919 by a group of dairy farmers that came together to provide markets for its members’ milk. Over the next century, the cooperative grew to include a manufacturing plant, farm store and transportation company located in St. Albans, Vt. Working on behalf of its farmer members, St. Albans Cooperative Creamery collaborated with various cooperatives over the years to ensure a stable milk market, competitive prices and valuable farm services. In 2019, following a strategic planning process, the members of St. Albans Cooperative Creamery voted to successfully merge with its long-time partner, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA). The commitment to serving its family farm-owners continues to be a top priority for the Cooperative. DFA has since invested in the St. Albans dairy processing plant and transportation company to support the local dairy infrastructure.
