The Santa Barbara Certified Farmer's Market Association (SBCFMA) was established in 1983 as Non-Profit Mutual Benefit Corporation to provide California farmers with direct access to market their products to the local community.
The initial farmers’ market in Santa Barbara was held at the Santa Barbara Mission in 1979, which was among one of the first 20 farmers’ markets in the State of California. Some of the original participants, including Randy Wade, Tom Shepherd, and Robert “BD” Dautch, can still be found selling their produce at our Santa Barbara farmers’ markets.
