Comments: The South Fork Saline Creek Mitigation Plan (MVS-2019-467) to be amended by adding an adjoining reach of an unnamed perennial tributary, entering South Fork Saline Creek from the north just upstream of Bank Stabilization Site 2. This addition includes approximately 695 linear feet of stream on the property as well as 0.75 acres of wetland enhancement adjacent to the stream. As well as the addition to the site, the Sponsor is proposing to use bare root seedlings for the riparian restoration instead of container trees as was previously approved. The mitigation plan will be amended by adding additional wetland and riparian easement area along Unnamed Tributary #2, which will include the restoration of wetland hydrology and vegetative community to the wetland area. The planting plan will be updated to reflect the addition of the wetland area as well as the use of bare root trees and the addition of new tree species. The total credits generated by this project site after the amendment, total 22,850.55 stream credits and 1.575 wetland credits. The mitigation project approval dated March 20, 2020 involves in-stream channel restoration; as well as riparian restoration, enhancement, and preservation activities on approximately 29.0+/- acres of privately-owned property. The project site contains 9,325 linear feet of South Fork Saline Creek, a perennial, 4th -order tributary to the Mississippi River. The in-stream work consists of six areas totaling approximately 2,700 linear feet, which exhibits severe bank erosion. The bank stabilization methodology will use a combination of re-sloping, rock weirs (stream barbs), longitudinal peaked stone toe protection, and vegetative staking. The restored and preserved corridor will generally extend 100-150 feet perpendicular from the channel banks
