Services cover all aspects of forest management. Focus of work is personal service for landowners, primarily management planning and handling timber harvests. I perform all of the work personally. The details in setting up a timber sale are very important in order to meet the landowners objectives. Timber sale administration is a specialty. In acting as the landowners agent, I must ensure that the logging plan is being properly carried out and to ensure contract compliance.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources with major specialization in Forest Resource Management, Ohio State University, 1986
Experience:
10 years as a State Forester with the ODNR Division of Forestry (3 years as a Timber Management Forester at Shawnee State Forest, 7 years as a Service Forester in Findlay, Ohio).
16 years as a Consulting Forester, currently residing in Columbus, Ohio.
Success story:
There are many, but they all focus on one primary detail: A properly conducted selective timber harvest using the competitive bidding procedure results in top dollar being paid. In many cases, landowners have been approached by a buyer and they don't know what to make of the offer for their timber. In many cases, a marked bid sale brings the same amount of money that a buyer initially offered for all of the timber (which would have resulted in the woods being butchered!).
