The Program provides incentives for horse owners to breed and compete with their Appaloosa, Paint or Quarter horses in Texas.

Which breeders are covered?

Breeders of Appaloosa, Paint and Quarter horses in Texas are covered. Owners of stallions who breed six or more mares in Texas in the 12 months preceding the annual breeding report are automatically covered by the program. Opt-out opportunities are available. Owners of stallions who have bred fewer than six mares may opt in to the program by submitting the TEIP form, a duplicate breeding report and the applicable fees.

What fees are associated with participation and when are they due?

When the annual breeding report is sent to the breed association, the owner of the stallion must also submit a duplicate breeding report to TDA, along with a TEIP form and a fee of $30 for each mare bred in Texas. Reports must be filed with TDA by November 30 each year. Applications submitted after November 30 of each year will be assessed an additional fee of $30 per mare bred. If an owner of a stallion fails to file breeding reports and pay program fees on or before December 31 of the applicable calendar year, no foal sired by that stallion during that breeding year will be eligible to participate in the program.
