Toby has been with Bay State Forestry Service since 2018 and has been active in natural resource management in a variety of capacities since 2010. Originally from Massachusetts, Toby has worked with landowners and organizations throughout our region, the Midwest, and internationally where he has performed trail construction, arboriculture, geospatial analysis, and environmental impact assessments. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana and a Master’s degree in Forest Science from Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany, located in the heart of the Black Forest. Toby’s professional interests include silviculture, ecological restoration, and agroforestry. Toby lives with his family in Montague and enjoys tinkering on family land in Ashfield in his free time, where he cuts firewood and cultivates hybrid American chestnuts and native perennial fruiting shrubs.
